Tesco Mobile is a telecommunications network operator. They provide a wide range of products and services that include mobile, landline, and internet services. They also offer mobile phones and SIM cards to their consumers. Tesco Mobile is headquartered at Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom with a contact number of 0345 301 4455 for their customer or technical support line.
Founded in 2003, Tesco Mobile runs on the O2 Network. Because of this, Tesco Mobile’s coverage spans over 90% throughout the United Kingdom. It also operates and has coverage in Ireland, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
In 2006, Tesco Mobile partnered with O2 Ireland to provide coverage and offer telecommunication services to Ireland. Because of this, Tesco Mobile has provided service to over 370,000 consumers in that region. Because of its popularity and because of the acquisition of O2 by the Three Network, Tesco Mobile moved to being on the Three Network in Ireland. With this transition, in August 2018 Tesco Mobile’s users can now use both 3G and 4G service coverage.
In Hungary, a short-lived joint venture between Tesco Mobile and Vodafone ended in April of 2016. Prior to the end of the joint venture, Tesco Mobile was allowed to operate on Vodafone’s “technology and network”. Later, Vodafone took full control over Tesco Mobile Hungary’s consumers.
In Slovakia, Tesco Mobile entered into a partnership with Telefónica Slovakia in 2009 (which at the time was on the O2 network). Together the companies provided products and services to Slovakian telecommunication consumers.
In another joint venture, Tesco Mobile partnered with Telefónica Czech Republic to also offer the telecommunication consumers of the Czech Republic their products and services during May of 2013. During that time, both Tesco Mobile and Telefónica Czech Republic ran on the O2 network.
Today, Tesco Mobile offers coverage and products to its consumers. Some of their product line up include Samsung, Apple, Huawei, and Nokia devices to name a few. For those of whom already have devices, they also offer a “SIM only” service. This is where a consumer will purchase Tesco Mobile’s SIM card and insert into their compatible mobile device. Essentially, a consumer will only need to purchase a SIM card and choose a service. To add to versatility and flexibility, consumers who are coming from a competitor may also keep their phone numbers while transitioning to Tesco Mobile services.
Tesco Mobile offers two options for the mobile telecommunication service, monthly and “pay-as-you-go”. As many know, monthly plans are the traditional service where a consumer pays a monthly service fee for a particular “package”. The pay-as-you-go option caters to the consumers who do not want a monthly reoccurring charge. This particular option is beneficial for those of whom only use their mobile phones only on occasion.
During the time this article was written, Tesco Mobile offered new mobile devices like the Samsung S9, Apple’s iPhone XS MAX and the Huawei P Smart 2019.
